australian consumer law

Australian Consumer Law states that Gift Certificates/Gift Cards that are purchased and sold in Australia must have a 3 year validity, with the expiry date clearly stated.

Gift Certificates given free of charge, or as part of an exclusive campaign, promotion, giveaway or competition do not need to meet the 3 year rule. Please refer to your gift certificate for expiry date, and inclusions.

Your Gift Certificate may be from any amount from $50+ and may not cover the whole photography session.

Your Gift Certificate will list a certain value to put towards a photography session or products. If it does not cover the inclusions or photography session, the recipient is liable to pay the remainder.

There are no refunds or otherwise if the recipient does not want to use the Gift Certificate, or does not want to pay extra towards the session or products, or wants more than what is included.

Second-hand Gift Certificates may be claimed if the original Gift Certificate is presented to The Newborn Studio upon booking. We will not accept Gift Certificates that are destroyed, lost, or unable to be presented. Forged or altered Gift Certificates will be refused. You will be refused our services if trying to scam a Gift Certificate.
Your Gift Certificate must match up with our digital records and invoices.

A Gift Certificate purchased by a friend/relative and gifted to the recipient, can only be used with the photography session specified on the gift certificate.

The recipient acknowledges that it is their choice to proceed with the photography session, and understand any further costs involved in the photography session and not covered by the Gift Certificate, will be payable by the recipient.

Gift Certificates may be purchased and used by the same person, within the terms of the voucher. Gift Certificates can be given to a friend, however the same terms apply.

Pricing is subject to change, and can change at any time.
Gift Certificates for promotions will be honoured to the value of the gift certificate, within the expiry date.

Gift Certificates used within 3 years may incur price/product changes if the photography session remains unbooked. Once the session date is booked, the current pricing is honoured.

If the session is not booked and held before the expiry date, the Gift Certificate is void and will not be able to be used. Please do not leave it until the last minute to book your session, as we book months in advance.

Gift Certificates are not redeemable for cash, and cannot be returned, or sold.

exclusive partnerships

“Exclusive Offers” of discounted sessions or extra inclusions with specific 3rd party vendors or partners are only offered as a partnership between The Newborn Studio and the listed party.

These are not Gift Certificates, they may not have expiry dates, and as such are subject to change or cease at any time.

Current Exclusive Offer – Aurora Women’s Health

Aurora Women’s Health Exclusive Offer is only valid for current Aurora families under their obstetric care. These cannot be gifted or given away to families outside of Aurora.

Expired Exclusive Offer – Bubs n Grubs

Bubs n Grubs Exclusive Offer was terminated on 16 July 2023 and will not be accepted.

I don't want the gift certificate / Can I give it to a friend?

Absolutely. We understand not every recipient wants what they have received. The recipient must be aware of terms and conditions, including the expiry date, full pricing, and inclusions. We reserve the right to refuse if they do not meet the conditions. No refunds are given to the purchaser if the certificate is unused.

What are the expiry conditions?

Please check your gift certificate for the expiry date. Gift certificates with a monetary value, purchased and given, are valid for 3 years. Gift certificates or exclusive offers that are given from The Newborn Studio, free of charge, do not need to meet that rule. Refer to your certificate for details.

My gift certificate has expired

Sorry, gift certificates cannot can’t be redeemed after the expiry date. We don’t know the recipient’s contact details at purchase, so we will not remind you before expiry, sorry.

What do I get with the gift certificate?

Please refer to your gift certificate for the inclusions or included monetary amount to put towards your session.

I've lost my gift certificate

Oh dear! Don’t stress though – please contact us with the original purchaser’s name, so we can match with the original records. If the certificate does not match our records, it cannot be used. If the certificate is later found after it has been applied, it cannot be used again.

Why isn't my gift certificate valid for 3 years?

Australian Consumer Law states that gift certificates given for promotional purposes do not need to meet the 3 year rule. This includes exclusive or short term promotions, advertising campaigns or vouchers given free of charge. If a client purchases a gift certificate at full value, the voucher must be legally redeemable for 3 years from the purchase date.

How do I book a session with my gift certificate?

How much extra will I need to pay?

Please refer to your gift certificate for inclusions specific to your gift. The purchaser can either gift a specific amount to cover your session, or an amount to put towards your session. If your session or prints/products is more than the gift certificate, you are liable to pay the extra amount. We are always upfront with financial questions! We’ll send you a full price list before you book, to ensure you are aware of all pricing details. Please spend responsibly and within your means.

We've moved/I'm not in Brisbane

All our photography sessions are held around the Northside of Brisbane. However, we’re travel-lovers, and will happily chat with you about travelling interstate. Travel and accommodation fees apply. Get in touch to discuss your interstate photography session.

I can't afford more than the gift certificate

Please refer to your gift certificate inclusions, as every gift certificate inclusions are different. Please get in touch to chat with Claire about how we can best help you. Can I combine 2 gift certificates?

That’s exciting that you have 2 gift certificates! Unfortunately no – only one gift certificate can be redeemed, per photography session.
