Hello, new and expecting parents! If you’re reading this, chances are you’re gearing up for one of the most heartwarming experiences ever: a newborn photoshoot. As a studio newborn photographer in Brisbane, I’m here to guide you through this exciting journey with some tips and a sprinkle of fun.

If you want those curled-up newborn photos, early is best!
First things first—let’s talk timing. The best time for a newborn photoshoot is within the first two weeks of your baby’s arrival. During this time, babies are sleepier and more likely to curl up into those adorable, squishy poses.
Plus, capturing those tiny fingers and toes while they’re still oh-so-small is simply magical.
So, if you’d love your newborn baby photographed early, we’ll aim for 2-3 weeks after birth, so contact me during pregnancy to hold a spot in our calendar.
Any age is perfect for baby photos!
However, if you just want adorable photos of your newest love, anytime is great for me!
Older babies have gorgeous eye-focus, little grins and pouts! (yes, sadly, older babies are a thing! By the time your baby is 4-6 weeks old, they’re wayyyy past the newborn age!).
So I’m absolutely happy to photograph your baby at any age, it just depends what look you want from your session – brand new, curled-up newborn fuzz, or cheeky and smiley 8-week old baby bliss.

Warm and cosy Brisbane studio
Our Brisbane home studio is a warm, welcoming haven designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. We keep the temperature nice and toasty because a cozy baby is a happy, sleepy baby. Don’t worry about bringing extra blankets; we’ve got plenty of soft, snuggly options to choose from.
Parents, we also have you covered! We’re not going to let you roast in the studio, absolutely not, so you’ll be kept cool in air-conditioning, while we partially heat the rest of the studio for your baby. Best of both worlds!
What to wear to your brisbane newborn photoshoot
Aim for clean, block neutrals
For your little one, your newborn won’t need any specific clothing, as we provide it all! Usually your baby is dressed down to their nappy, and wrapped in one of our soft, warm wraps to keep the tones neutral and clean.
We have an array of neutral fabrics, soft wraps and little wee newborn outfits to add that special touch, but if you have a favorite onesie or blanket, bring it along!
For parents and siblings, coordinating outfits in soft, complementary neutrals work beautifully in photos.
Think cream, white, light grey, latte, tan or denim, and avoid logo’s, stripes, checks, and crinkled fabric.
And of course if you would love colour in your photos, you’re welcome to wear it! It’s entirely up to you.
full and happy babies
A well-fed, warm baby is a content baby. Please free to feed your little one right before the session to ensure they’re calm and sleepy. If you live close to the studio in Murrumba Downs, feed bub at home, and then we should be ready to start when you arrive.
If you’re driving an hour or more, you’ll need to feed baby again in the studio, unless they’re completely asleep and ready to roll!
We allow plenty of time for feeding breaks and cuddles, so no rush—this is a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Breastfeeding and bottle feeding is welcomed in our newborn studio. We want you to feel relaxed and at ease, and we’re more than happy to step out of the studio and give you your privacy.

Your baby’s safety is my top priority. I’m trained in handling newborns gently and safely, and I’ve handled many, many babies in 13+ years as a Newborn photographer.

Newborn photoshoots are about more than photographing your newborn, they’re about capturing the love and connection of your new family. Whether it’s a tender kiss from mom, a proud smile from dad, or a gentle sibling touch, these moments are pure gold. We’ll create a beautiful mix of solo baby shots and family portraits that you’ll treasure forever.
We always start with little siblings and family photos, because we know how long siblings last for! (Answer… about 6 minutes, haha!)
And that’s all we really need, a few beautiful photos with big siblings and their baby brother or sister. And thankfully, I have had lots of little siblings in my studio, so you’ll find me acting like a bit of a goose! But I promise, although I’ll be making weird noises and playing trucks with your two-year-old, I’m here to form best-friend-status with your toddler, and help them feel right at ease, resulting in beautiful smiles and happy siblings.
